Solid Cumaru decking boards, dried and milled to US sizes, from Brazilian mills holding over 50,000 m² of finished stock.
Cumaru (Dipteryx odorata) grows across the Amazon basin and is the same tree that produces the tonka bean, the perfume ingredient behind the faint vanilla scent the wood gives off when it is cut. In the US it is sold as Brazilian Teak and is the most popular alternative to Ipê: nearly the same hardness and density, a warmer reddish brown tone and a lower price. Left unfinished it weathers to an even silver gray; with a UV oil it keeps its color.
