Solid Cumaru slat boards, the densest and most durable hardwood in our line, milled with tongue-and-groove edges for feature walls and exterior cladding.
Cumaru grows across the Amazon basin and northern South America, reaching 130 to 160 ft. Americans know it as Brazilian Teak, but it is not a teak: it is the tonka bean tree, whose vanilla-scented seeds have been used in perfumery for centuries. The wood is so dense it sinks in water, and its heartwood glows under UV light. With a Janka rating of 3,330 lbf, it is more than twice as hard as red oak and stands up to decades of sun, rain and termites without treatment.
