Solid Garapa slat boards, a golden, light-colored hardwood tough enough for outdoor use, milled with tongue-and-groove edges.
Garapa, also called grapia, grows from the Amazon down to the forests of southern Brazil. It fills a rare niche: one of the very few light-colored hardwoods with natural decay resistance, which is why it became a favorite for docks and decks in the U.S. The wood has a chatoyant surface, a shimmer that shifts between light and dark as you walk past it, and its honey color deepens to a warm amber over time. Despite its density, it machines easily and finishes smoothly.
