Solid Sucupira slat boards, a dark, striped hardwood with a hand-drawn look, milled with tongue-and-groove edges for statement walls.
Sucupira grows in the Amazon and the Brazilian Cerrado. Its heartwood is medium to dark brown, crossed by fine, lighter bands that give each board a distinctive striped figure no engineered panel reproduces. Sold in the U.S. as Brazilian Chestnut, it is unrelated to the chestnut tree: at 3,060 lbf on the Janka scale it is nearly as hard as Cumaru, and very resistant to decay and insects. Pre-drill and it holds fasteners for life.
