A light, straight-grained Brazilian species for the natural and blonde looks that drive current demand: sawn Tauari wear layer over a cross-laminated core, prefinished or ready for a custom stain.
Tauari (Couratari spp.) grows in the eastern Amazon and is sold in the US as Brazilian Oak because its pale yellow to light brown color and straight, even grain read like White Oak or Ash. It is lighter and softer than our tropical species, close to Red Oak in hardness, which makes it easy to machine, sand and stain. It takes reactive and matte finishes well, so it fits the Scandinavian and coastal palettes that dominate US design today, at a price below European White Oak. Not listed under CITES.
