Solid Tauari slat boards, a light, easy-working hardwood with the look of oak, milled with tongue-and-groove edges for interior walls and ceilings.
Tauari grows in the Amazon and belongs to the same family as the Brazil nut tree. Its name comes from an indigenous use: the inner bark was peeled and rolled as cigarette paper, and in French Guiana the tree is still called "maho cigarre". The wood is pale yellow to light brown with straight grain and a soft luster, close enough to oak in color and hardness that the American market named it Brazilian Oak. It machines, stains and finishes easily, which makes it the most affordable species in our line and the best choice when the wall will be stained or painted.
